Delhi-Bound IndiGo Flight Performs Emergency Landing At Patna Airport Following Engine Snag
The flight landed safely at the Jay Prakash Narayan Airport in Patna at around 9:11 am.
Patna: An IndiGo flight flying to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing at Patna airport on Friday. The incident took place after one of its engines malfunctioned just three minutes after the flight took off.
Reportedly, the flight landed safely at the Jay Prakash Narayan Airport in Patna at around 9:11 am.
According to the reports citing the pilot, no further assistance was required after landing. No emergency was also declared and operations were reported normal at the airport.
Flight Was Carrying 181 Passengers
The aircraft with 181 passengers and eight crew members on board made the landing shortly after taking off from the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport.
"The aircraft returned to its origin due to a technical issue. Three minutes after its departure, the pilot reported one engine inoperative. The aircraft landed safely at 9.11 am. As per the pilot, no further assistance was required. All operations are normal here," the airport official said.
Passengers To Depart In Another Flight
The airline is accommodating all the passengers in a separate flight, which is expected to depart before noon, the official said.
Another Emergency Landing Reported A Day Ago
An Air India Express flight from Kochi to Sharjah made a precautionary landing at the airport here on August 2 night after a passenger reported a suspected burning smell shortly after takeoff, an airline source said on Thursday.
According to the source, soon after the takeoff of the aircraft from the Cochin International Airport, a guest reported some kind of suspected burning smell. As somebody had reported a burning smell inside the aircraft, as a precautionary measure it was decided to turn back.
The aircraft, after landing at the airport late Wednesday night, was inspected, and nothing amiss was found, it said. The Air India Express arranged another aircraft, which left for Sharjah on a delayed basis carrying around 175 passengers.
