KRK claims he lost 10 kilos in 10 days while in jail: 'I was surviving only on water'

Actor-turned-film critic Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, was recently granted bail in the 2020 case of controversial tweets about actors Akshay Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan.

Another court in Mumbai also granted bail to him in a molestation case in 2021. Days after walking out of jail, KRK took to Twitter and claimed that he has lost weight after surviving only on water inside the lockup.

He tweeted on Tuesday, "I was surviving with only water for 10 days in lockup. So I have lost 10 kg weight."

Khan was arrested by the police at the Mumbai airport earlier this month in connection with his tweets.

The FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint by Yuva Sena leader Rahul Kanal, where he alleged that KRK's tweets on the late Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor allegedly spread "hatred".

Rahul had said in the FIR that a person named Kamaal R Khan is "regularly spreading hatred" on social media. "He came into Bollywood with a movie named 'Deshdrohi' and is really acting like one. Even when the world is going through a pandemic, I can't understand his inhumane behaviour and spreading hatred in all spheres of life."

The complainant said KRK was making hateful comments against late actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. "After Irrfan Khan, who is India's pride, passed away, he was making poor claims and statements on him. He was also talking crap about senior actor late Rishi Kapoor also," the complainant further stated.

He also said that KRK is not in the country and requested PM Modi to file a case against him. "This person is surely not in our country. I would like to urge our Prime Minister to kindly register a case against him under sections 505, 504, 501, 188, 117, 121, and 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), thereby setting an example for everyone to follow," the complainant Rahul said in the complaint.

Police claimed that Khan's posts were communal and he targeted Bollywood personalities.

However, Khan in his bail plea moved through advocates Ashok Sarogi and Jay Yadav, said that the tweets in question were only his comments on the film titled "Laxmii Bomb" (released as only "Laxmii") and no offence as alleged by the police was committed. Khan is acting as a "critic and/or reporter in the film Industry", the bail plea said.

The FIR against him was registered in 2020 under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 500 (punishment for defamation), and provisions of the Information Technology Act.

A court in suburban Bandra had granted bail to him in the molestation case registered at Versova police station.
