The Delhi Police received a PCR call regarding a bomb near Raddison Blu, a five-star hotel in Paschim Vihar on December 19. A police team was immediately rushed to the spot and the entire area cordoned off.
New Delhi: Residents living near Radison Blu hotel in Pashcim Vihar were sent in a tizzy when they spotted a suspicious digital object and assumed it was a bomb on December 19. They had also informed cops who later confirmed that it was not an explosive but the mystery about what it was still loomed over the public.
Intugine, a Bangalore-based logistics technology startup, further clarified that the suspicious object in question is a digital lock provided by them. It is a portable device used by manufacturers, e-commerce and logistics services companies to secure and track their high-value goods, they said.
The digital lock provides companies with the visibility of their trucks and gives tamper, theft and similar alerts.
Company CEO issues statement
Ayush Agrawal, Co-founder and CBO, Intugine, says, "After learning about this incident, we analysed the tracking data and found that the device was not locked at the start of the journey. After some initial movement, the GPS location indicated that the lock was in the same place for many hours, which meant that the lock fell off in transit. This was when the locals from Paschim Vihar contacted the police, and we have been in constant touch with the Delhi Police since then to retrieve the device. We also want to apologise to the people due to the panic created and want to reassure everyone that this is not a dangerous device."
What had transpired?
Locals had spotted the digital lock laying around in Delhi's Paschim Vihar who panicked and informed the police.
Soon after the locals had reported spotting the device, police team had rushed to the spot and entire area was cordoned off. A Bomb Detection Team was also rushed on the spot.
The call had sent a panic wave as a lot of school students use the path to reach their respective schools.
