MP: Over Dozen Devotees Electrocuted At Rewa's Devtalab Shiva Temple On 4th Sawan Somvaar
On the occasion of fourth Monday of Sawan, a large number of devotees had reached the temple for darshan.
Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): In a horrifying incident, more than a dozen devotees were electrocuted after an electric wire break and fell on them at Devtalab Shiva temple in Rewa on Monday. The devotees had gathered in large number to worship Lord Shiva on the fourth Sawan Somvaar when the incident happened. There was a sudden stampede in the temple premises as people ran for lives.
According to information, the temple falls under the Laur police station area of the district. Devotees were offering prayers to Shivlinga when an electric wire broke and fell on the railing. Seveal devotees were injured in the incident. Police reached the spot after getting information about the incident. Fortunately, there is no news of casualty as of now while the condition of injured is said to be critical.
Collector Reached The Spot
The injured persons, including women and children, were rushed to nearby hospitals. Some of them who were critical were referred to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital in Rewa, around 50 km from the spot. Rewa SP Vivek Singh and Collector Pratibha Pal have rushed to the spot. The centuries old Shiva temple is located in Dev Talab, where around 3000-4000 devotees visit every day.
Kamal Nath Wishes Speedy Recovery
Taking note of the incident, former CM Kamal Nath wished speedy recovery to the injured.
He wrote on twitter, "In the Devtalab Shiv Temple complex of Rewa district, more than 15 devotees were reported injured after an electric wire fell on them. I wish all the devotees a speedy recovery."
