Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda has accused Congress of depriving tribals of their basic rights in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh while addressing a press conference in Bhopal on Wednesday.

"Whenever Congress came to power in Madhya Pradesh,  it ignored the tribals and deprived them of their basic rights. It was during the previous Congress regime that highest tribal migration took place. Congress always tried to hit on the interests of tribals," said Munda.

Notably, nearly a dozen districts of Madhya pradesh are rich in tribal population. These tribal-dominated seats play a significant role in pushing political parties achieve a majority mark. Therefore, this election season, both the political parties--BJP & Congress are paying special focus this to garner tribal votes.

Munda accused previous Nath-government of discontinuing schemes meant for Baiga and Bharia tribals, adding that several Congress-ruled states have not implemented PESA act (Panchayats Extension to Scheduled Areas).

He dubbed the Congress manifesto--promising bouquet of schemes for tribal and SC/ST welfare, a bundle of lies.

He further said that during Congress regime in the central state, no attention was paid on education and health in tribal areas. However Modi government paid attention on education and health facilities in tribal areas.
