Bhopal: SA Trip Helps Kuno Officials Acquire Better Cheetah Management Skills
During their SA trip, the delegation members learned how Cheetahs are tranquilized and how their proper care is taken.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A delegation of forest officers comprising Field Director of Kuno National Park Uttam Kumar Sharma had returned from South Africa on October 16. The forest officers have gone to South Africa to learn cheetah management skills.“
During their SA trip, the delegation members learned how Cheetahs are tranquilized and how their proper care is taken. They visited a couple of parks hosting cheetahs and tried to learn various management skills,” said a senior officer of Kuno National Park to Free Press.
The delegation also had a discussion regarding the medicines given to cheetahs when they are injured or suffer from any kind of ailment. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Wild Life, Asim Shrivastava was part of the delegation which went to South Africa.
One of the delegation members said “We have visited one Mountain Zebra National Park and three private reserves.” He said shortly cheetahs, which are kept inside the enclosures, would be released into the open jungles of Kuno National Park.
These cheetahs were caught and put inside the enclosures after some of them developed infection, particularly around their necks. At least two cheetahs have died inside the jungle.
“We are preparing to release cheetahs into the jungles soon as they could not be put inside the enclosures for a longer duration,” said Field Director of Kuno National Park, Uttam Kumar Sharma.
