New Delhi : Ahead of the 27-day monsoon session of Parliament beginning on Monday, the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Government has convened meetings of the leaders of various parties here on Sunday to seek cooperation in smooth conduct of the business.
Both the meetings will be held in the Parliament Library building. The Government has convened the meeting at 11 AM while Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has invited the leaders at another meeting at 7 PM.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi may also hold on Sunday an informal meeting of the opposition leaders to firm up the issues to be raised during the session. The Opposition will be attacking the government on implementation of the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) in a haphazard manner triggering shutdown of shops by traders all over the country. Farmers’ plight and situation in the Kashmir valley are two other issues on the Opposition’s platter.
