Evictions from Bandra hsg society stayed

New Delhi/ Mumbai: : The Supreme Court has stayed eviction of Yusuf Shanullah Shaikh and others from the Navjeevan Rahivasi Housing Society in Bandra, Mumbai until next hearing on January 13.

The vacation bench of Justices R M Lodha and Jagdish Khehar passed an ex-parte order after hearing the petition, filed against the executive engineer of the Bandra Division of the Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board.
“Until next date, the order of the High Court passed on 13.12.2013 directing the Executive Engineer…. not to evict the petitioners shall continue,” the bench said in an order passed on Thursday while taking the writ petition on board, and ordering it to be tagged with the petitions of the society and listed it on January 13.
The petition was admitted despite no certified copy of the High Court order attached as the counsel said the High Court has neither provided the certified copy nor did it place the order on its website. The Apex Court asked the counsel to file the certified copy as soon as possible.
